I ate too many thin mints...


Has this ever happened to you? If you have never had thin mints I suggest you get yourself a box and find 15 of your closest friends to share a sleeve with.

Really, don't you dare open a sleeve alone. Those things pop like chips.

Anyway, I am writing this post because I was not happy with my choice. I had a healthy green smoothie for breakfast, a salad and slice of sweet potato lasagna for lunch, digestion aiding ginger tea and then I go and eat too many thin mints.

Cue the stomach ache and guilt.

Has this ever happened to you?

Cravings and processed food temptations have been the most difficult aspect of my health journey.

One that I still deal with today. And I am in control of 96% of the time. This is a huge improvement from what I would guess used to be a 30-40%.

The reason that I saw this huge improvement is because I learned why I craved things. I learned when I crave them and what situations make that happen.

Today, I was stressed out at work, anxious, tired, and what I thought was a great idea was received lukewarmly from a friend. Perfect recipe for my body to start looking for some happy hormones (this time they came in a minty, high-fructose corn syrup laden chocolate cookie).

The more that I have learned, tried, and applied the more in control I feel.

Today I am not sharing a success story with you because I want you to know that inspiring journeys are not entirely made up of success stories. There are some missteps and wrong turns.

Also blood, sweat, and thin mints.

I want to help you decode your body's messages.

I want you to be able to anticipate cravings and healthily navigate them. And I want you to understand, accept, and forgive yourself when you make a mistake. Even better, know why you made it.

And trust me, it's not your sweet tooth.
